During the chat, the Freddy actress recalled the time her parents separated and believes it was not a bad thing. She says, “When my parents got divorced I didn’t thought it was a bad thing. Farhan Furniturewala is now married to Laila Khan and they have a son. Speaking about her bond with her step-mom and half-brother, Alaya shares, “My mom attended my father’s second marriage. I am extremely close to my step-mom. My half-brother, who I even hate calling half-brother because he is my brother, we have the same dad different moms, is like a piece of my heart, my child. So I can’t imagine a life where my parents had stayed together. I would not have had my step-mom and brother in my life. It’s absurd to me. For me, it’s always been a great positive thing that my parents got divorced. Both of them are happy in their own lives.”
Sharing her thoughts on divorce, Alaya remarks, “In my head, divorce was never really a bad thing because my parents handled their divorce so beautifully. When my other friend was going through something similar, I didn’t think it was a big deal. I was like, ‘Yeah, it will be good for you, it will be great for your family’, because that’s generally how I thought about divorce. So kudos to my parents on that. They never spoke badly about each other or put the other down. They were never hostile to new people that entered their lives. My mom and step-mom are also very good friends. So all of them played great role in ensuring we grew up with ease having big family.”
For those unversed, Pooja Bedi is now engaged to businessman Maneck Contractor.
